Moving Worlds: Cinemas of Migration

The Forum on Migration and Communications (FOMACS) at DIT is organising a 8-week film series called ‘Moving Worlds: Cinemas of Migration’ from 22 May – 10 July.

The festival has been able to get some of the directors, producers, and scriptwriters of the films being screened to present their films, and some of the screenings are accompanied by a workshop on issues around filmmaking, immigration, and the ethics and politics of representation.

Sights and Sounds Africa, 2008

organised by KADE and ‘Clubheadbangbang‘, invites amateurs and professionals alike to submit images that offer a positive portrayal of Africa, urban or rural.

This event will be part of the nationwide Africa Day campaign, funded by Irish Aid. The aim of the event is to challenge perceptions of Africa and promote a more comprehensive understanding of the diverse culture that springs from this vast continent, which encompasses 53 countries. (more…)

Dr. Mark Garavan from Inside the Rossport Five

Mark worked for five years managing the pr campaign of the Rossport Five. He is a lecturer in Sociology in GMIT and a senate candidate in the NUI constituency.
