We would like to hear from you…
Dear Users,
Mediaforum.ie is a space for debate about the kind of media that we have, that we want, and that we deserve.
We would like to hear from you. What issues, topics and subjects would you like to see debated here?
Yours,

Hi,
I’d like to see something here about the new press council that’s being planned for. What kind of teeth is it going to have, and will it really be able to have any impact? I’ve heard that not everybody thinks it’s a good idea. What’s the point in having one if some newspapers are not williing to be part of it?
BTW: Nice site! Looks like a great idea.
Hi
as a worker in the homeless services I’d be interested to hear peoples’ views of the reporting of social justice issues such as homelessness. It’s my expereince that reporting on these issues is often serteotypical, sensationalist and superficial.
It will be great if this site can engender a vital forum for debate. Here are a couple of suggested strands:
What is not reported in the media?
Middle age and middle class? How does the social profile and age of the people who create content effect the way we view our society?
As previous commenters have suggested, this site should serve as a much needed forum for debate on the issues that the media both portray and present to us.
Media content is provided to a audience; its is often forgotten that an audience can serve to improve the media quality, just like customers can help to improve any service/product.
Using a forum like this to highlight issues is in important step in creating the media and audience awareness for such changes - it is critical that writers & readers of media content contribute to aid in this task.
Best of luck on the site

I am a student entering her senior year in the United States and am extremely interested in Irish politics, especially with attention to the role the media (radio especially) plays in the political scene. I was wondering if you could give me any information, or even a place to start researching, online or otherwise, or contacts that you think may be helpful with this subject. Also, other postings concerning this would be very informative.
Fot training on the implications of the Press Council visit Perfect Bound’s website. This is, as far as I know, Ireland’s only training company for working journalists.
